Combatting Vst Plugin Latnecy
- Running cross-bit-depth VST plugins - Bridging allows 32 Bit VST plugins to run in FL Studio 64 Bit and 64 Bit VST plugins to be used in FL Studio 32 Bit. 32 and 64 Bit plugins are auto-detected and the Bridged mode will be set accordingly. The memory available to the plugin depends on the Windows bit-depth as described above.
- If it's a particular plug-in, you can try disabling the plugs one by one to see if the latency suddenly improves (quite a task on big track-count projects). And always worth checking that a plug manufacturer hasn't got an update to fix random latency increases within a plug.
Latency Delay is an auxiliary AAX, AU and VST plugin which allows you to compensate latency produced by any audio plugins, instruments and processes which produce latency but do not try to report it to the host audio application. Info - Displays any information published by the plugin, such as: Plugin Name, Type (32/64 Bit), Category & processing latency. Latency - Manual offset (Left-click the Latency value) to compensate for plugins that consistently report an incorrect latency. This setting will be remembered per-plugin. See Plugin Delay Compensation for more info. Zero Latency mode matches the magnitude response of analog EQing as close as possible without introducing any latency. Natural Phase mode takes it a step further and not only matches the magnitude response of analog EQing but also closely matches the phase response; it does this while steering clear of pre-ringing and latency.
Adjusting latency under Windows. Under Windows the buffer/latency setting can be made in the control panel of the ASIO driver of the audio card. The audio card settings can be accessed in the Start menu under '(All) Programs' or via a corresponding symbol in the Quick Launch Bar of Windows.
